Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5 — close to Fable 5's frontier intelligence, the company says, but at half the cost. Opus 5 becomes the new default on Max and Pro. And in one area, the model deliberately holds back.

Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan are lining up the first investor meetings. Anthropic could list in October — ahead of OpenAI.

After backlash, Anthropic extended free Fable 5 access by five days. Today, July 12, the window closes. From July 13, the model is available only through usage credits.
