45 million docs, decks and designs have been made in Claude since September 16. Claude Design gives up its own address for it, with December 14 as the cutoff.

On October 8, Anthropic announced two new artifact types and took three existing ones out of beta. Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion are new. Docs, Slides and Design are now on every plan, including Free.

Dashboards hang off the database, not off a file

Claude Dashboards connects to a data platform such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks or Snowflake, or to a CRM like Salesforce. You ask in plain language, Claude builds the dashboard and keeps it current as the data changes. Every number is clickable and shows the query behind it, and every chart says when its data was last refreshed.

Anthropic positions this next to your BI tools rather than against them. When a question gets bigger, you can hand the dashboard off to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma; Looker, monday.com and Tableau are listed as coming. Dashboards is in beta on paid plans.

Motion produces code, not footage

Claude Motion turns a prompt into an animation that plays like a short video: the quarterly report as a 30-second explainer, movement in a chart for a board deck, a product walkthrough for onboarding. You can download the result as an MP4.

The interesting part is in the small print. There’s no video generation model involved. Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images. So there’s no generated footage and no AI-generated people, and you can change any word, number or timing. Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise.

What leaving beta gets Docs, Slides and Design

Since Docs, Slides and Design moved into every conversation, Anthropic counts more than 45 million docs, decks and designs made in Claude. What comes with the label coming off:

  • Artifacts support CMEK, and admins pick which templates their organization uses.
  • Your team and Claude work on the same doc, deck, design or dashboard.
  • Slides, designs, dashboards and animations can be shared outside the organization, up to anyone-with-the-link if an admin allows it.
  • PowerPoint and PDF exports keep your formatting, and decks go to Google Slides as editable files.
  • Editing works in the mobile app.

Claude Design is moving, and the move has a date

Design started at its own address, claude.ai/design, and since September 16 it also works inside every conversation. Keeping two versions alive slows down fixes for both, so the standalone site is being folded in. It stays reachable until December 14.

What you have to do first fits in three lines. Pull your design systems over with “Migrate team design systems” on the Artifacts page, once for the whole organization. Projects need nothing from you yet. Chats and comments from the standalone version don’t come along and are gone after the shutdown, and so are public links to projects there.

The query under the number is the actual offer

A dashboard built by an AI is only useful if you can distrust it. That’s what Anthropic is addressing here: click the number, read the query, ask about it. Motion follows the same pattern, where the animation exists as code rather than as generated footage.

Enterprise admins get one hurdle. Dashboards and Motion are off by default and have to be turned on under Organization settings, Artifacts. So if you go looking for the dashboard button at a large company this week and can’t find it, you don’t have a Claude problem. You have a question for IT.
