Claude Code 2.1.300 landed in the npm registry on October 14 at 14:27 UTC. The changelog is long, but the weight sits in three places: mods, telemetry, and a run of fixes around cloud sessions.
/advisor arrives on Claude Platform on AWS
The advisor is now available there too. The default behaviour is the part worth knowing: no
advisor runs until you pick one, via /advisor, advisorModel or --advisor. You can turn
the tool off entirely with CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_ADVISOR_TOOL=1.
What mods can do now
Four additions at once. virtualText draws text inside the prompt box that never enters your
draft or the submitted prompt. The prompt.change hook fires whenever the prompt text
changes without a typed edit: a recalled history entry, a clear, an undo, a plugin’s fill.
$.ui.view({ agentId }) pulls an agent’s transcript into the main view, and $.ui.view({})
goes back. And Text gained a dir prop for right-to-left text, with rows reading that way
on Windows and in the VS Code terminal. On top of that, the agent.spawn hook can now
rewrite a workflow agent’s prompt and model instead of only refusing it.
Telemetry gets more precise
The OpenTelemetry api_request event now splits cache writes by lifetime:
cache_creation_5m_tokens and cache_creation_1h_tokens. Trace spans also carry GenAI
semantic-convention attributes such as gen_ai.provider.name, gen_ai.conversation.id,
gen_ai.tool.name and error.type. That lines up with the same day’s other news:
OpenTelemetry traces from Managed Agents and the Messages API
went into beta on the Claude Platform, under the same conventions.
The fixes that stand out
Write, Edit and NotebookEdit in Cowork cloud sessions reported success for a path on your own computer where the file never arrived. Cloud sessions hung five minutes per turn when the organisation’s policy couldn’t be read; now the turn ends promptly and says why. And a conversation that failed on every turn with a 400 error, because the API rejected an MCP tool’s input schema, keeps going: Claude Code sends that tool without parameters for the rest of the conversation.
The mod surface is growing fastest
Line up the releases since 2.1.299 and a pattern shows. Most of the real additions these days aren’t about Claude, they’re about the surface around Claude. Hooks, prompt decorations, view control. That’s a quiet decision about who builds the workspace, and it’s going the users’ way.
