Anthropic is expanding its Office integration. The headline feature: Claude can now share context between Excel and PowerPoint conversations. Analyze data in Excel, then have Claude build a presentation from it — without re-explaining everything.
Shared Context: Finally working across apps
Until now, each app was an island. You’d work with Claude in Excel, switch to PowerPoint, and start from scratch. That’s over. Shared context means Claude understands what you did in the other app.
In practice: you run a data analysis in Excel, switch to PowerPoint and say ‘make slides from the results.’ Claude knows which results you mean.
Skills: Reusable workflows
There are also new Skills — reusable workflows you define once and use repeatedly. If you regularly build the same report or prep data the same way, this saves real time.
Cloud deployment
For enterprises, there are new cloud deployment options that make it easier to integrate Claude into existing IT infrastructure. Pricing and availability details are still to come.
My take
The Office integration is one of the most exciting areas for me. Not because it’s glamorous — but because this is where millions of people actually work. If Claude works really well in Excel and PowerPoint, that has more real-world impact than any research paper.
Shared context was the most obvious missing piece. Good to see it land.
