In parallel, NEC and Anthropic are co-developing industry-specific AI products for the Japanese market, starting with finance, manufacturing, and local government. Claude is also being integrated into NEC’s Security Operations Center to defend customers against cybersecurity threats.

The whole thing runs through NEC’s BluStellar platform — a comprehensive program covering consulting, AI tools, security, and digital infrastructure. Claude Opus 4.7 and Claude Code are being embedded directly.

But this deal is different — it’s less about money and more about signal. When a Japanese IT giant commits 30,000 people to Claude, it’s not because of a competitive price point. It’s because the quality holds up. And that’s exactly the kind of validation Anthropic needs right now.
