Today’s the day. Anthropic’s first major developer conference ‘Code with Claude’ kicks off in San Francisco — and the rumor mill is churning.
The event runs over two days (May 6-7) featuring full-day workshops, live demos of new capabilities, and direct conversations with the teams behind Claude Code and the API. The speaker lineup includes Ami Vora (Head of Product), Boris Cherny (Head of Claude Code), and Angela Jiang (Product Lead for the Claude API).
What we know
Code with Claude is designed as a hands-on event for developers. No marketing keynotes — just practical workshops on agentic programming. The conference will be livestreamed and will later travel to London (May 19) and Tokyo (June 10).
What we suspect: Jupiter
This is where it gets interesting. Since April 30, a model called ‘Claude Jupiter V1 P’ has been appearing in internal red-teaming logs. Anthropic uses planet names for pre-release models — before the Claude 4 family launched, internal testing ran under the codename ‘Neptune.’
The timing of Jupiter’s testing is no coincidence. The patterns match: internal red-teaming, proximity to the conference, the same playbook as previous launches.
Will Jupiter be announced today? Nothing’s certain. But the odds are high enough that you shouldn’t miss the livestream.
Why Code with Claude matters
With this conference, Anthropic is positioning itself as the platform for developers who are serious about building with AI agents. While OpenAI pushes Codex and Microsoft rolls out Agent 365 for the enterprise market, Anthropic is betting on the developer community — with Claude Code as the central tool.
That’s a deliberate choice. And it might be the more important one in the long run.
