Two days from now, Anthropic’s developer conference Code with Claude opens its doors in San Francisco. It’s the second time the company has hosted its own dev event — and this time, they’re going significantly bigger.
Three Cities, Two Days, One Livestream
The conference isn’t just a San Francisco affair anymore. London follows on May 19, Tokyo on June 10. New this year is the Extended format: May 7 adds a second day specifically for independent developers and early-stage founders. No keynotes — just laptops-open workshops and founder stories. Demand for tickets was so high that Anthropic added the extra day.
If you can’t be there in person: the livestream is open to everyone. Only the Extended event won’t be streamed.
Jupiter v1-p: What’s Behind the Codename?
And then there’s Jupiter. Anthropic has started red-teaming a new model with the internal codename claude-jupiter-v1-p. Testing Catalog first spotted it.
We’ve seen this pattern before: ahead of the Claude 4 family launch, a similar red-teaming effort ran under the codename ‘Neptune’. Planet names are Anthropic’s way of testing new models internally before release — the real product name only comes at launch.
Will Jupiter actually be announced on Tuesday? Nobody knows for sure. But the timing is suspiciously convenient.
What to Expect
Based on what’s been announced so far, the conference focuses on three areas:
- Agentic Coding: Using Claude Code and Claude Cowork for autonomous debugging, refactoring, and repo navigation
- The MCP Ecosystem: Model Context Protocol in practice — securely connecting Claude to local and remote data sources
- Production Reliability: Evaluation pipelines and Constitutional AI for safe, steerable model outputs
My Take
Anthropic is doing a lot all at once right now. Tomorrow (May 5) there’s the ‘Briefing: Financial Services’ event in New York for finance executives, then Tuesday and Wednesday it’s the developer conference. That’s not a coincidence — the company is positioning itself on both fronts: enterprise customers and the developer community.
And if Jupiter really is a new model that gets unveiled on Tuesday? This could be a very interesting week.
