Two days after the hefty 2.1.239, the next version is already here. The changelog for 2.1.240 is about as short as it gets: “bug fixes and reliability improvements.” No new feature, no stage, no drumroll.
Why it’s worth a mention anyway
A release without a headline is easy to miss. But it’s exactly these small follow-ups that tell you something about the rhythm Claude Code is built in. 2.1.238, 2.1.239, 2.1.240 – three versions in a handful of days. The big jumps sit in the middle releases, and the quiet touch-ups come right behind them.
That’s the typical signature of a tool someone works on every day. A big release brings a lot of new things at once – and then a round almost inevitably follows where the edges get smoothed out. 2.1.240 is one of those rounds. If you already installed the previous version, you just update along and probably won’t notice anything except: runs a touch smoother.
My take
I like this kind of update. Not every release has to shine. When a team follows up a big swing by simply repairing things, that’s a good sign – not a bad one.
For your day-to-day it means little more than: update and keep working. And if the pace makes you dizzy – you don’t have to count every number. It’s enough to update now and then and trust that the quiet versions do exactly what they say on the tin.
