Consultancies sell transformation - now they’re buying some for themselves. On August 25, Bain & Company announced a global partnership with Anthropic and picked up the title of “Global Premier” partner in the Claude Partner Network. The top rung.
Internal first, then an offer
Here’s the interesting bit: Bain didn’t just put Claude on a shelf, it used the thing itself first. All 19,000 employees have access - Claude.ai, Cowork, Claude Code, and the Office plug-ins. In the pilot phase alone, Bain says more than 7,000 people were working with it within a few weeks. Over two-thirds of the pilot group reached for the Claude add-in for Excel.
Only now do they turn that experience into a product. Bain will advise clients alongside Anthropic on AI strategy, technology modernization, and reworking operations. The selling point is their own rollout as a template: not just handing out access, but onboarding, training, support, and ongoing surveys around it.
The number that sticks
One figure stands out. On projects with old, poorly documented codebases, Bain claims it hit a 30% to 50% productivity uplift with Claude - while the broader market usually reports under 15% for this kind of work. If it holds up, it’s exactly the case Anthropic positions Claude Code for: not the greenfield, but the legacy swamp where expensive engineering time drains away.
Read consultancy numbers with the usual caution. They come from the press release, not an independent audit. Still, the adoption speed alone says something: you don’t switch on 7,000 people in weeks by memo, that has to be pulled from the bottom up.
Why it matters
Bain is deliberately not betting on Anthropic alone. The firm wants to work across several AI ecosystems - a smart hedge. But the fact that the “Global Premier” badge goes to Claude, with a full internal rollout behind it, is a strong signal to every enterprise still on the fence.
For Anthropic, partners like this are the sales channel into big organizations. Building a model is one thing. Landing at Global 500 companies across 40 countries is not something you pull off alone - for that you need exactly the consultants already sitting at the table.
